I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanksgiving is a special day with special history; a time when people stop to remember what all they have to be thankful for. I try to do that every day, and more so in recent years. As an older person, health issues crop up, and I’ve been able to do some things about some problems that came with all that, making some of them less of a problem. If you don’t have your health, not much else matters. So we tend to concentrate on that more as we get up there in years.
But there is so much more. Family is so important, and as some family members get older, we need to remember to be thankful to have them with us, and to have shared our lives with them and they with us. Then there are the younger family members; my son, who has always been such a joy. And now I have a wonderful almost daughter in law, who I already consider family. They will make their promises to each other in the spring and spend their lives making each other happy. That makes me happy and thankful.
There are friends, great people who we each share different experiences with, and who all so enrich our lives.
There is peace where we live. So many people in the world can’t say that now. We can be thankful and hope or pray or whatever each person does to wish our peace to continue.
There are creature comforts. I’m thankful to have enough: food, warmth, a good home; things that many people don’t have, even in our small town. That old saying that having “enough” should be enough, and living simply is a better way to live, I like to live by that every day.
Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you have enough, and even enough to share sometimes with those who don’t.
Thank you for sharing your Blessings. I always look forward to your posts. You are always so upbeat & grateful for the simplest things in life. You are my mentor. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Aww, that is so nice, thank you so much. Sometimes we have readers we aren’t even aware of, and it’s good to hear from you. I do enjoy a simple life and Thanksgiving is a good day to remind ourselves to think of what we have. Have a lovely Thanksgiving too!
Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving! I will raise my cup of espresso to you! 😉
Thanks Herman. It’s a day to eat lots of good food and celebrate with family, but most of all to remember what we’re thankful for. I have a lot to be thankful for.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🙂
Thanks Jackie, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Nicely said! Have a Happy (extended) Thanksgiving! Nutmeg
Thank you!
I have a sign hanging over the entry to my dining room, that also says “Count Your Blessing.” My husband tells me that, when I get sad, I need to look up and read that several times!
I pray that feelings of thanksgiving and peace can somehow spread throughout the world.
It’s harder to remember to count your blessings when there’s so much wrong around us, but still important to help us keep balanced. Have good holidays, whichever they are for you.
