Nice green peppers to dehydrate

dehydrating food

8 nice green peppers for 25 cents apiece, at a local farm stand.  I try to buy local food as much as possible, and these were a really good deal.  I can grow almost anything, except, it seems, green peppers!  Maybe it’s my land, tho it’s so good for other things, maybe it’s me, but I tried several times, and I get little hard green knots.

So, these are cut up and in the dehydrator, ready to put away for fried potatoes or omelets or chili in the winter.  I do grow chili peppers and I dry them, so my chili can heat up a winter day, lol.

Good luck with the end of season gardening (if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere!) and also whatever food preservation you do.  And in Australia, hang in there, spring is coming!

  1. they look beautiful and tasty and for a quarter a pop, can’t beat that! mmm fried potatoes . I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. That is a great deal! They look really yummy. I’m with you on buying local – I also try to buy local whenever I can. The supermarket I go to is big on locally grown so I don’t have to go far to get it. I hope you have a great weekend! 😀

    • Our supermarkets here don’t seem to concentrate on local much, but this is a rural area, so I can go to the farm stands and get great stuff, support the local farmer and cut out the middle man. And be my normal frugal self as well, lol. I hope you have a great weekend too, and nice weather, so you can take more pictures!
