Planted greens for a fall crop

collard greens

I transplanted cabbages and planted collard seeds for a nice cool weather crop of both of those.  They can’t stand much heat but can stand a little cooler weather.  It’s been cool here for August, almost feels like fall the last week.  So they can get started and grow and when September  hits and other foods except tomatoes are done for their lifetime, these will grow on up and get harvested maybe the end of September.  I never grew fall crops before, never grew cabbage or collard at all before, but I sure will again!

Over the winter I’ll add more compost and horse manure to the fenced area to make it better yet for next year.

Happy Gardening!
